Happy Birthday Michal
Emerson was fortunate enough to be invited to help celebrate Michal Riley's 4th birthday party last weekend (2 parties in one day.....Emerson's social life is better than mine!). Michal's party was at Chuck E. Cheese. Emerson was very interested in all the lights and fun things to see. She also got to see some old and new friends. It was nice to see everyone, even if for just a short time ;)
Happy Birthday, Michal. And thanks Kimberly for letting me borrow this pic from your Facebook!
Happy Birthday Parker!
Last weekend, Emerson was invited to help celebrate Parker's 3rd Birthday. The party was at a neighborhood park and all the kids got to play on the equipment. The party goers also got to play some fun games. Here is Parker trying to carry an egg on a spoon without dropping it!
And NOT enjoying being pushed on the swing!
Here's Parker blowing out the candles on her really cool Rice Krispie Treat cake. It was beautiful and delicious! It was so windy, I'm surprised that the candles stayed lit long enough to blow out.
Here's Emerson enjoying a cracker! And NOT enjoying being pushed on the swing!

Rapunzel
Well, not quite, but Emerson's hair is getting quite long. Her dad suggested that we cut it. I was like, WHAT??!! She's still a baby...and you don't need to cut a babies hair....do you? Maybe he's right and she could do with a trim. I am just not sure though.

More on than in
For those of you that know me, you know this is hard for me to just let her go like this. I know that learing to feed yourself is a messy process and I just have to let it happen...she's only this young once. As you can see, she just LOVES it and actually got some in her mouth. We went straight to the bath after this!

And from this day forward, you shall NOT be known as Darth Pink
Today was a big day for Emerson. She went to see the neurosurgeon, and her plagiocephaly helmet has officially been discontinued! Emerson made great progress with the helmet and we are thrilled. The results are better than expected and the MD was very pleased! Emerson was such a great sport about the helmet....I always worry about how things are going to affect Emerson, how she is going to adapt, what is this going to "mean" for her....and more often than not, Emerson just goes with it and is fine. I am so proud of her and so happy that she has overcome this particular medical challenge!

Mother's Little Helper
Emerson already has chores to do. I know, she's only 1, but it's never too early for a girl to earn her allowance and learn some responsibility. Here she is doing her "chores"...rearranging the cupboards. She does a great job. She starts by taking EVERYTHING out, even if it means climbing inside the cupboard to get those last few lids and such. She then spreads it all out on the floor and hand inspects each piece. Some even get the extra special "mouth inspection".
Most of the contents of the cupboards are tested for durability by being either banged on the floor or against each other. Sometimes she has to use a wooden spoon to test for durability, but sorry, no pictures of that special treatment. Once she has finished the inspection and durability tests, she usually leaves everything on the floor....why put the stuff back when you are just going to use it and it's so handy if it's out in the open?
Emerson wants her next chore to be "putting cat food into the water dish".
I am so proud of my helper...if you need your cupboards rearranged, let me know...I'll send Emerson right over :)
