FIESTA!

Every year in April, San Antonio celebrates FIESTA. This 10 day celebration doesn't seem to commemorate anything special or historical, its just a time to party. We celebrate FIESTA, to quote a co-worker. Imagine my confusion after I moved to this town (and country) when I found out my new employer did not recognize Easter as a holiday, but would pay me holiday time for "Parade Day". Which I have never taken, by the way.

Over the years, I have done some serious "Fiesta-ing", as evidenced by the cups (if you've ever been to Fiesta, you know what the cups mean:))

This year, things were a little different. Instead of cups, it was bottles. Emerson went through 2 at Fiesta this year. We went to our one and only Fiesta event this year, the King William Fair for a few hours on Saturday. It was very humid and very crowded (as most Fiesta events are prone to be), but still fun. Emerson started out with pants and socks in addition to her onsie. However, one poop later and did I mention it was humid? She ended up in onsie only.

After our "crazy" Fiesta party, we all went home and had a two hour nap. Now that's what I'm talking about!

Get all you can

This past Sunday we all had brunch at La Mansion to celebrate my birthday. I had a great time and really appreciate that my friends were able to come. The food was yummy and we all ate too much-not too hard when it's a buffet. The mimosa's were especially delicious- I had 2 :)

Beautiful Parker was there looking especially cute in her pink shoes and skirt. Her momma Dena was beautiful too in her cool silver shoes. Susan was here from Temple and Angela was there as well.

I LOVE my gifts. I got all sorts of really neat kitchen gadgets that I can't wait to use. And THANKS Dena for the babyfood cookbook. I can't wait to try making Emerson some really "good for her" first foods. Thank you all for celebrating with me!

5 months

WOW! Emerson is 5 months old. She is growing so fast...I say this every month, but it seems like she was born just the other day. Emerson continues to amaze us. She is so sweet and happy. She is in a good mood from the moment she wakes up and greets us with big smiles and her arms reaching for us all the while kicking her little legs as fast as she can.

Emerson can also roll over from her tummy to her back, but only when she feels like it :) Somedays that's like 5 times in a row.

Giggling, laughing and observing all that is going on around her are her favorite things. And the cereal continues to be a big hit. She LOVES her cereal. We have had rice and are now on oatmeal. We'll try wheat next and then move on to veggies. Of course, milk is still the #1 favorite and what she starts and ends her day with.

Emerson still has reflux and continues on the Prevacid and has to sleep elevated. Which she is doing great with....sleeping through the night most nights! THANK YOU GOD! Everyone said it would happen eventually, but I was beginning to think people were just saying that to make me feel better!

And as you can see by the pictures, she is beautiful. We are blessed.

Margo Moo

Margo Moo is Emerson's new friend. Her new friend has a special purpose....to nebulize Xopenex. Why? Well, that's what you do when your friend Emerson has bronchiolitis.

Poor baby...has the worst cough ever and nasal congestion that just drives her crazy. Emerson has not had a fever, so it's probably viral. The pediatrician said she has seen at least a dozen kids this week with the same thing.

While Margo Moo is doing her thing, Emerson is usually OK with the treatment at first, then the experience deteriorates and Emerson starts crying. On a good note, the cereal is paying off as Emerson had gained almost 2 lbs in a month. She now weighs 14.8lbs...her fat rolls are sooooo cute.

HAPPY EASTER

Emerson celebrated her first Easter today with an Easter basket full of friends. We had a small Easter celebration here at the house with family and friends and good food. We all ate too much shared a some good laughs. Emerson is now in bed and I plan to head there very soon....and hopefully have a good long sleep!
