Back seat driver

Anyone need help driving? Which way to turn? What the lights on the stop light mean? What color ALL the cars are? Because Emerson is available and she is tireless. Does anyone else experience this with their small child/ren?
She knows that green means "Go" and red means "Stop" and that orange (I tell her it's yellow, she insists it's orange, I don't argue) means "Slow Down". And she is very good at telling me what the current condition of the light is. What she hasn't grasped is the timing of such actions in relation to the color of the light. The other day, we were driving and approaching an intersection. The light turned yellow and my driving advisor informed me that it was "Orange, Mommy, slow down". She was right and I began to slow down. Then the light turned red and Emerson began to yell "Red, stop, Mommy, red, stop, Mommy". Yes, the light up ahead at the intersection was indeed red, but since we were still a bit away from said intersection, I didn't stop. Well, let me tell you, that my driving advisor did not like this one bit, because red means "stop". Right here. Where you are. No matter that you are still a block away from the intersection. Red means STOP!
There were a few tears. That went away when I went "this way, Mommy" to make her smile again.

It's a hard job.....

But someone has to do it, and Emerson is perfect for the job. Her job includes lounging around in her chair, watching her new favorite show, Team Umizoomi!! Love how she crosses her legs :)

Emerson's job also includes fashion shoots. Today she is modeling the dance wear/Grandma's sun hat ensemble. Very nice, Emerson.

Other photo shoots include showing off her red sunglasses and pink high top sneakers.

After a long day of photo shoots, Emerson likes to relax in a nice warm bubble bath. Bubble are perfect for making yourself look like a 'HO HO HO', as in Santa.
Life with Emerson is never dull. She is getting so big and doing so well with speech therapy. Busy and happy girl! She lights up our lives!!

Opposite of fashionista

The other day, Emerson and her dad were getting ready to go over and visit Grandma while Mommy got some chores done. After putting on her regular clothes, Emerson INSISTED on wearing her Cinderella outfit over the clothes. We have learned to pick our battles, so bundled her up and off they went. We told her she has to wear a hat....which she picked out herself as well.

One of the beautiful people

Just strolling around our favorite mall, wearing a red coat, shopping at our favorite store! It was great day.

Toddler Jackass

Don't try this at home. We are not trained professionals, just looking for cheap fun.

** I promise, no toddlers were hurt in the making of this video. Quite the opposite. Super fun was had by all **

Sporty Spice

Emerson was blessed to receive many awesome gifts for Christmas this year. These are from the sporting group.

Waiting for the Olympics to begin. Emerson's Tio Blanco always makes sure that Emerson has the right gear for watching hockey. The princess sippy cup is the perfect accessory, don't you think?

Playing Wii baseball. Looks like we got ourselves a lefty here!

Big News

Someone is sleeping all night long in her Really Big Girl Bed! And no nighttime accidents either! We are very proud of our girl, this is quite the accomplishment! Emerson's crib was one of those cribs that coverts to toddler bed, then to big girl bed. We think we chose well. I KNOW, the box spring is bad need of a cover.

All of Emerson's friends had to relocate from the toddler bed to the dresser. The tiered seating is precarious at best. Not sure which one is the keystone, but I don't want to find out!

January Birthdays!

January is a busy birthday month for us. A lot of our favorite people become another year older in January. As much as we'd like to go to all the parties, we aren't able to make all of them to celebrate. But we celebrate all our January birthday friends in spirit.

Rebekah

Cousin Rebekah turned 6 this year. Cousin Rebekah lives in Canada where it is WAY TOO COLD for us thin-bloods in January. But we thought of her on her special day and can't wait to see her very soon and celebrate together.

Cassie

Cassie turned 5 this year. We were invited to her fun party at Inflatable Wonderland, but Emerson's parents had a previous engagement (aka adult only party with adult only beverages!!!). We are sad that we missed the party, but know that Cassie had a lot of people who love her around her on her special day.

Carter

Carter is one of Emerson's friends from school and turned 3 this year. Carter and Emerson have been in the same class since they were in the infant room together. Carter is such a gentleman and always takes very good care of Emerson when he is around her. Carter's party was at the most fun Chuck E. Cheese. I call this place a casino for kids. Emerson had a great time at the party and has been asking to go back ever since.

Michal Riley

Michal Riley turned 6 this year and had a super fun party at the bowling alley. Bowling was a new event for Emerson and she had a pretty good time. However the party coincided with nap time and the only thing that would make Miss Cranky Pants smile was a piece of cake.

Parker

Miss Parker had a Princess party up in Austin for her 5th birthday and it killed us to miss it. We got to see a photo of Parker with her face painted and think she looked very happy and very beautiful. We hope to get up to Austin to hang with our dear, sweet friends that we don't see nearly enough of!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANUARY BABIES!!!

Double Standard

I have never gone an entire month without posting since I started this blog. It's not because nothing blog worthy has happened, because I've got plenty of "material". It's just that I never seem to be on my computer anymore. Not much, anyway. Not long enough to blog, that's for sure. My iPhone has killed the laptop computer. Especially since I got a new one with a really awesome new cover. It's my constant companion. If it would only go to work for me...........

If I could, I'd put my blog on my blogs "Lame Blog" list. But I wont, since it's my blog. Sometimes it's good the be the king. Of my blog, that is. And in my case, the queen.

I'll be catching up this weekend and then will make the very best effort to continue regular postings. Stay tuned for more adventures of Emerson!
