Newest member of the family

Meet Patrick, who now lives here. He's earning his keep by keeping the time. Well, he's learning, he still needs the odd adjustment. But in time, I am sure he'll have it down pat.

PS Thanks P&D for the lovely surprise!

Random Inspection

This doesn't happen that often anymore, but we are still do receive random Tupperware cupboard inspections. As you can see, a good inspector gets all the way into the cupboard and takes everything out. Also of note, we seem to have grown out of "mouth inspection" phase. Everything just receives a cursory going over on it's way out of the cupboard. We are so lucky to have an inspector who is so thorough.

Hunting you I am

Emerson and Yoda.

First Haircut

Emerson has never had a haircut. I was always really reluctant to cut a babies hair, and we were able to manage it with barrettes. But I had to admit that she isn't really a baby anymore and her hair was long and always in her eyes. Plus, we were informed in a very nice way that baby school didn't want her to wear barrettes to school anymore, as they were too tempting for her friends who were putting them in their mouths. And every morning, Emerson looked like she as being raised by wolves...her hair was so crazy. So off we went to Kool Kuts 4 Kids to get her hair cut with her new best friend in tow.

Emerson got to sit in the fire engine chair and watch Blues Clues. We were expecting a meltdown, but Emerson was as cool as a cucumber. Not one big lip, not one tear. She actually had a great time. She was driving the fire engine and watching her show and was as happy as could be. Which made me very proud, as there were lots of meltdowns taking place around her.

This is the "after". She has a little bangs so the hair won't be in her eyes anymore and the rest is just shaped a little to bring out her curls. We think she looks adorable. The salon had a little keepsake card that has an "after" Polaroid and some of her hair, which was nice touch.

Fun at Dinner

On Mother's Day, Emerson and Rico took me out to eat. For some reason, there was a lot of static cling in the napkin and we had some fun with it and Emerson's hair. She thought it was hilarious!
Besides having a nice dinner, I also got a very pretty and very special gift. Rico, under instruction from Emerson, had a heart shaped citrine (November birthstone) set into a pendant for a necklace. It is the perfect gift and I absolutely love it!

2nd Annual FIESTA!

A few weekends ago, we went to the King William Fair to celebrate FIESTA. We had a nice time. Emerson enjoyed strolling around looking at everything. And she LOVED the lemonade we shared. We were lucky this year, King William wasn't too crowded and it wasn't too hot. We had some good FIESTA eats (gorditas and sausage on stick) and good FIESTA drinks (lemonade and beer).
We also ran into an old friend from work and his wife and baby. It was great to see Juan and Stephanie again and to meet sweet Diego for the first time. He and Emerson are about a month apart. I attended Juan and Stephanie's wedding a couple of years back, and what a wedding it was! Emilio played their wedding (he's a relative of Stephanie's) and I was duly impressed. They have been to visit Emilio in Houston since he's been hospitalized and say he's doing great. (The Emilio story is long, so I won't go into it here). Anyway, hopefully we'll be able to get together with them again.
