Staycation Day 7 thru 9

After having been down in Mercedes for a week, Auntie Diane and Uncle Paul came back to San Antonio for a couple of days before heading back home. So of course we headed downtown to take in the sites.

We had a great lunch at Rainforest Cafe on the Riverwalk.

Took a boat tour of downtown San Antonio.

And of course, when in San Antonio, you have to see The Alamo!

The next day, we visited the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Rebekah wasn't that interested in going to the rodeo. She changed her mind once we got there and she saw the bungee jump! She had no fear and was doing flips on her second jump. She needed the first jump to get some air. I think this girl would have stayed on the bungee jump for an hour if they'd of let her. Maybe she too has a career in the circus?

Even Emerson got to bungee. She didn't get as much air as Rebekah, but she had a great time and looked so cute doing it!

Claire on the bungee.

There ain't nothing like a fresh, hot funnel cake to really make a girl happy.

Claire and Rebekah on the roller coaster.

Emerson and Daddy riding the carousel. They had a lot of rides and games for kids Emerson's age, which was nice. Parents were allowed to go on the rides with their kids, so even we got to go on some rides, technically.

Can't go to the rodeo without getting your face painted. My sweet little flower girl.

A beautiful butterfly.

A striking jaguar. The make-up artists were very good and they did such a good job on Claire, they took her picture and are going to use her on their wall as an example of what they can do. Claire's modelling career has started early.

I have to admit that we didn't do a whole lot of actual stock showin' or rodeo-in', but we had a great time anyway, and I bet Rebekah won't hesitate to come back.

Staycation Day 4 thru 6

On day 4 of our staycation, Claire, Rebekah, Auntie Katie and Uncle Tim headed out to Natural Bridge Caverns and Wildlife Park for a day of adventure. Emerson had a MD appointment and the caves would have been too much for her, so they went without us. They had a great time walking around the area.

A couple of Canadian spelunkers.

It's not a buffalo...it's a (Manitoba) bison.
A Texas Longhorn and her baby! Hook em'!

The next day, we headed to the Witte Museum for some culture. They had special exhibit, The Genome Project, which was interesting to look at. After that, we spent some time building pyramids in Egypt (the second floor, actually).

Uncle Tim taking a ride on the Skybike. He's ready for his gig at the circus now, in case this Shaw thing doesn't work out.

Claire and Rebekah checking out Brackenridge Park from the Witte Science Tree House.

The next day, we loaded up our rental van and all of us headed to Corpus Christi. Here's Emerson trying her hardest to see over the rail at the Texas State Aquarium.

And while we were in Corpus, we went to the BEACH!! Here are a couple of beach bums!

This was Claire's 3rd time playing in the Gulf of Mexico. It was Rebekah's first! As you can see it was a big hit. The girls collected lots of sea shells for souvenirs. They were troopers, because the water was cold!

It was also Emerson's first time in the ocean. She loved it, as she loves all water. We can't wait to get back and do it again.

Staycation Day 1 thru 3

This February, we were blessed to have so many visitors. Uncle Paul and Auntie Diane flew in and stopped to visit us on their way to see my Uncle Ron and Auntie Marie, who are wintering in Mercedes. Uncle Paul and Auntie Diane arrived in time for supper and really enjoyed sitting outside in February.

Later the same night, some of Emerson's favorite people flew in on a later flight. Emerson was thrilled to see her cousins, Claire and Rebekah. Auntie Katie and Uncle Tim also came with the girls. The girls were excited to get outside on their first day in Texas and enjoy the sun.

On Day 3 of our Staycation, we headed out to the San Antonio Zoo. We ran into David, an old friend who we hadn't seen in a long while (it's been TOO long David!). We had a brief catch-up before heading off to our favorite part of the zoo!

A little Dippin' Dots sure cool you off on a hot day!

The Lories were so happy to see us. We had bought lots of nectar for them to drink.

Posing on the lions at the front entrance.
One of the good things about having Uncle Tim around is a piggy back ride when you start getting tired of walking.

On the way out of the zoo! We had had a great day there and were all good and tired. Some more than others :) Aunties are good to sleep on.

Trampoline Fun

The other day, Emerson and Daddy went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a visit. Emerson got to bounce on the trampoline and thought it was better than chocolate milk! She had the best time. Grandpa even got in on the fun. She didn't want to get off to come inside so her and Daddy could come home. She was so enamored with the trampoline that Grandma and Grandpa offered to give it to us, but we declined. We'd never get her to come inside, ever, if this trampoline was at our house.

Old Friends

The original Babe's with Babes! We four girls met in 2001 when we all started at UTHSCSA. We all just hit it off and found we had a lot in common. Things sure have changed since then, but all for the better! From left to right: Kimberly with Michal Riley, Sarah with Emerson, Heather with Abbey and Amy with Alex. It was fun to get together with everyone...we gotta do it more often!!!

Cherrios

Emerson's new favorite breakfast. She starts out with a spoon, but often finds it's easier to use her original utensils to get all the good oat-y O's!

Getting ready for Summer

While it's not quite bikini weather, Emerson is getting ready. Grandma's sun hat is still too big, but I think she looks awesome. Emerson has this beautiful skin tone and I hope she decides to never sunbathe...she doesn't need it. She'll need a new swimsuit for the summer...this one is kinda plain ;)
